Or Benjamin

Or Benjamin’s quest to heal herself started in 2018. Though she had always eaten relatively well (vegetarian since the age of 12 and a whole foods plant based vegan for the past 10 years), she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder hemolytic anemia after a period of intense stress. Autoimmune hemolytic anemia causes the body to break down red blood cells (a process called hemolysis), and hemoglobin levels drops. A protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen and carbon dioxide, appropriate hemoglobin levels are essential for life.

Until recently, the only effective treatment Or has found to control the hemolysis has been steroids (prednisone), which has its own side effects, such as decreased bone density, insomnia and internal tremors. And steroids will only keep the hemolysis in check; they won’t heal the root cause.

Sjogrens (sho-grens), another autoimmune disorder followed, which caused uncomfortable dryness in the mouth and eyes. Then about three years later, she was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's marginal zone lymphoma. This type of blood cancer is a cancer of lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that manages inflammation in the body.

To heal herself, Or tried many, many modalities, including a variety of plant-based protocols, 2- and 4-week long water fasts, emotional treatments, movement and energy healing and even kambo (Amazonian frog poison).  One of the most significant interventions has been meditation which she learned through Dr. Joe Dispenza. “I started meditating 3 hours a day,” says Or. “And I began believing, actually knowing I would heal.”

The cancer progressed despite the many things she was trying. Or notes that the doctors “pressured me to start chemotherapy. They admitted they did not know how to heal this type of cancer - they would put it in remission but it would likely come back after a number of months or years.” Or wanted “to find something that actually works.” The lymphoma caused visible growths on Or’s face around the jaws and eye as the cancer cells infiltrated the parotid and lacrimal glands.

Through web research, she learned about the Nutritional Oncology Research Institute (NORI) protocol and started it immediately. Following the NORI diet, she reduced high-protein foods, restricting the levels of the sulfur-containing amino acids, methionine and cysteine. She ate lots of fruit, some vegetables, and starches like potato, sweet potatoes, and squashes to keep the calories up.

Although Or felt great on the protocol, in the first three months there was no change in the size of her drastically enlarged glands. A doctor she consulted with, Dr. Tomer Egozi, recommended she enhance the NORI protocol by adding ozone rectal insufflation. These treatments are similar to an enema except that instead of water, they use ozone, a highly reactive gas made of three oxygen atoms. Guided by another member of the NORI community in New York, Or, who lives in Israel, learned how to do the ozone insufflation treatments. She bought an ozone generator and did the ozone treatments twice a day.

The cancerous growths began to gradually shrink and 11 months later, two have nearly disappeared and one is ten percent of its original size. “I have been taking pictures and measuring the growths. Week by week, the cancer was receding. Once you see the results, it was very cool.”

I have been taking pictures and measuring growths. Week by week the cancer was receding.

In addition, she has seen significant improvement in Sjogren's dryness symptoms and for the first time in over six years she has been able to wean off steroids while maintaining a high hemoglobin level.

When asked about her doctors’ reactions to her hard earned success, Or says “they’re shocked and astounded. And once the cancer disappears further, I will give a talk to the medical team.”

Or Benjamin's diagnosis at a glance

Cancer: Non-Hodgkin's marginal zone lymphoma

Age at diagnosis: 51

Surgery, radiation, or chemo?: None

Other treatments: low-methionine plant-based diet, nutraceuticals for oxidation and ferroptosis (sodium selenite, vitamin B6 (p5p form), iron, zinc, copper, manganese). Ozone Insufflations. Meditation with Dr. Joe Dispenza.  Hyperthermia - Onnetsu device. Spiritual and emotional work. Daily physical activity.

Tracking strategies: ultrasound, photographs

Quotes: ”Through my meditations and the testimonials of people healing with Dr. Joe Dispenza's work, I developed the confidence that my body could heal itself. It was just a matter of finding the right protocol - and with NORI, I finally did!”

And Or is doing even more. She and Dr. Egozi are monitoring a NORI pilot group with eleven other cancer patients in Israel, including breast cancer, prostate cancer, sarcoma and another lymphoma patient. They are explaining how to do the NORI protocol, supporting participants in weekly Zoom calls and an active private Facebook group to share recipes and answer questions. They are looking forward to seeing how the protocol affects participant’s cancer markers in the coming months.
